Through the Friendship Circle Volunteer Club, remarkable bonds are forged between the children with special needs and their new friends.
A volunteer’s commitment and willingness to give of their time reminds us that today’s men and women, both young and old, are caring, compassionate, and dedicated to making a difference in every child and adult they encounter.

Where are you from and how did you get involved?
I am from British Columbia but I have lived in Montreal for the past two years. I got involved with the friendship circle through a recommendation by the Concordia Volunteer Bureau in January and have been volunteering here ever since!
What is your favourite moment at The Friendship Circle?
My favourite moment at The Friendship Circle would have to be when Aneesh, one of my buddies, and I got to know each other a little better, and he felt comfortable enough to give me a hug for the first time in all the weeks I had known him. It was a very genuine moment, and it was so encouraging to know that he was enjoying our time together and our bond as friends as much as I was. He usually likes to be independent and given space, but for him to approach me for a hug was a very big step for us, and I will never forget it!
How did friendship circle have a positive impact on your life?
The Friendship Circle has impacted my life by allowing me to be who I am around many other volunteers and friends. Everyone is extremely like-minded and all passionate towards being the best volunteers we can be, which is such a positive environment to be in.
How will you implement & spread the friendship circle motto in your daily life?
I will implement and spread The Friendship Circle motto in my daily life by continuing to volunteer and make positive changes in the world around me. The Friendship Circle has taught me so much about compassion for others and how to accept and love everyones differences, which drives me to be as inclusive and caring as possible as I go through life.
